The "Custom Canvas Give Away" from It's A Jaime Thing

I usually don't get excited about contests and give aways ( probably because I usually don't win) but I am so excited about this give away. Jaime of It's a Jaime Thing and the folks at GeeZees have gotten together to introduce these awesome canvases to commemorate and highlight those special events in your life. Jaime adds "These custom canvas designs , are the perfect way to display your love to each other, whether it be in the form of your wedding picture, an old love letter, your wedding vows, a poem or lyrics to your favorite song! This offer was just too exciting not to re-blog about. Jaime, I hope you don't mind.

If you were looking for that special, one of a kind wedding gift, here it is. This would make a great gift for any one, and for just about any reason.

In love with this idea? Me too! Click here for details on how to win your very own Geezees custom canvas and more!

Wedding Planning: Biggest Wedding Regrets

"I would have hired a day-of coordinator. It got irritating when people would ask questions like, 'Where should I put the extra programs?' after the ceremony."

"Tip: The one thing most brides don't get on their wedding day is a break. If you want to enjoy individual moments more and deal with questions and disasters less, hiring day-of help should be a high priority on your to-do list. The quality time you'll gain is well worth the fee." The Knot.com

How true a statement. No bride should work on her wedding day and even when you give the planning duties to a trusted family member or friend, the bride still winds up as the go to person for all the questions. Save yourself the headache and hire a day-of-coordinator. Many Day-of-Coordination plans ( including ours) offer just the right amount of services to meet the needs of today's bride-to-be. Many future brides are enjoying the whole planning process; the tastings, vendor meetings, color reviews, and decorating sessions. And that's not surprising since so many of us who are wedding planners enjoy some of the same things. But no bride should be coordinating and ensuring that all the players, vendors and design elements are in place and where they need to be on the day of the big event. She should be relaxing and enjoying the pampering, the showers and just being the center of attention. With Alpha Prosperity Events as the day-of coordinator, the bride can do all of the planning she wants and then, four to six weeks before the wedding, she can turn it all over to us, knowing that we are trustworthy and capable to handle all of the details.

And just a word of advice to all the thoughtful future grooms out there... remember a frustrated, angry bride is not a happy bride. Keep your bride-to-be happy and relaxed for one of the most important days of her life, hire a day-of-coordinator. As the groom, it could make the wedding night a lot more interesting. Talk about a win-win.

Happy Father's Day

Here's a toast to all the fathers out there, and in particular to my dad, Lynwood, Sr.; my husband, Taronald; my brother, Lynwood, Jr.; and my father-in-law, Charles. I send up a special blessing for them and the many other fathers I know (way too many to list here).

"God our Father, in your wisdom and love, you made all things. Bless those fathers, who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of parenting. Bless these men, (especially my dad, my husband, my brother, my father-in-law, my uncles, my cousins and friends) that they may find strength as fathers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Strengthen them by your love that they may become the loving, caring persons they are meant to be and grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect and love. I speak this prayer, In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

And in keeping in line with the topics of the Coco Trendy Events blog, let me recommend a wedding movie that helps us celebrate Father's day, Father of the Bride.

I usually am partial to originals but I can make an exception for Steve Martin because he did a fairly good job reprising the role made famous by Spencer Tracy. This a great feel good movie and it's a wonderful choice for reminding us how important our dads are to us and how often dads come to the rescue, especially when it comes to making their little girl's dreams come true.

Wedding Showcase - Yvette & Garmar

A few weeks ago, I had the great opportunity of coordinating a wedding for a beautiful couple. These folks are just too gorgeous for words. I mean really, they are a good looking couple. It's so nice when you can genuinely see the love that exists between two people. These young people are very in touch with each other as well as in touch with the spiritual aspect behind their commitment to one another. The wedding was beautiful, and a whole lot of fun was had by all.

Just a few highlights of this very special day, made possible by the wonderful photos of Ken Jones Photography.

"Special Delivery" - Groom's gift to the Bride.

A toast to the happy couple led by the best man, Marcus, the best friend of the groom and the maid of honor, Blaire, the sister of the bride.

These folks partied and enjoyed each other into the wee hours of the night. This is what a wedding reception is all about.

50th Wedding Anniversary - Meet the Simmons

My aunt and uncle recently celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary, following the blessed history of my grandparents, and my parents. They renewed their vows during the Sunday morning church service. It was very simple but touching. It always amazes me to see couples get choked up when they renew those vows to each other. It usually means that they have been through some tough times and they have weathered the storm. I am so happy to have such wonderful role models in my life. I got remarried a little late in life so I can only hope to celebrate 50 years of marriage with my wonderful husband. But with 3 couples from 2 generations showing that it can be done, I choose to have faith and work on accomplishing that 50 year mark as well.

Congrats Aunt Shirley & Uncle Joe! I hope you guys get to spend 50 more years together.
